International Fair of Bordeaux - Japan week

Posted By ZaMpa
Hello all,

Today i got to some  fair/show where there was a good part about japan.
History, art, traditional clothes...etc and animes & mangas :p

Well, it was not that AMAZING, but still there were a funny cosplay theatre i took pics of.
I already apologize for the really poor quality of pitures, but the area was totally crowded and i was holding the camera with one had to have it as high as possible, the lightning was also kind of bad, so the mix of everything is "limited".

Though i'll share these pics with you guys.... we're noobs beginners here, ppl don't really know what means cosplay and those who theink they know a bit, tells crap...
Well japanese meetings like this are in wider area with lot ofcosplayers all around, there was only a little square here and too much visitors (most of them were just there out of curiosity cuz there was a crowd, or passing by to get to other fair's areas.

2 vocaloid cosplayers were doing a choregraphy, the same as below :

Getting too used to JDownloader now. Without knowing I can view the pictures on Mediafire, I just copied the link and downloaded all of it. <.<

I'm not a fan of cosplay. Even pros doing it just strike me as awkward. Anime character designs just can't carry into reality, imho. Oh, and those cosplayers look awful, haha.

Hahaha yea, they're just ppl playing around, no real "cosplayer" as we know them.

Animation is almost an underground culture here, medias despise it and it's seen as kid business, cuz all we know are "cute" series or only big names (naruto, bleach, one piece...)

One TV show was displaying good series like 15-20 years ago, but some politic fag stopped it cuz it was too violent for children.

When you ask "what are japanese animation for you ?" to a regular french, the answer would be "i don't really know" or "Albator (Captain HArlock), Goldorak, Olive et tom (Captain Tsubasa)" these sort of oldies.

All this explain why we're so "poor" about this kind ofstuffs.

Btw what really pissed me off was the stands wich sold Star Wars figurines and other Marvel stuffs... Since when it's japanese .. ? lol

Well between hidden things, amalgams and media badmouth, we try to make our way on the internet.
=> i'm french and see, i'm on an english/US place, cuz french places are too much restrictives.

EEEEEHH!? You're a frenchie!? Did not expect that. ;)

As for media despising anime, do you mean France or U.S.?

And yeah, I like anime but I don't openly share it. Most people here regard it as cartoon or immediately associate it with hentai. D:

ZaMpa | May 22, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Yup,

Animes are "children product" here too, so only kiddy ones or oldies get there.

About medias, i mean french TV and newspapers, only Ghibli movies are seen as movies or all ages animation. Anyway internet is the devil with the medias... They only speak about how you can get scammed and how devil it is...etc

About me, yea i'm french. I'm here cuz the french anime scene doesn't offer as much materials as english/international one. There are about 4 or 5 times more english subbed series than french.
Also, Red and Kradie are friends and this place is getting kinda big about anime series and i like it xD

#note : I saw "Colorful" praised one time in a local newspaper, i was glad, cz that movie really is nice :)
I'd like Makoto Shinkai movies to be a little... displayed here, well the next generation might make it.

The "upstanding" media like Ghibli... and only Ghibli.

That reminds me, last year December, I downloaded Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 from here. After I watched it once, I watch it again... and again... and again...

Yeah, that was my gateway drug to animu. And the reason was because it was the first time I download such a big file just for a freaking "cartoon" and awed at those pretty graphics.

Now I'm sitting my ass here downloading animu day and night and storing them into a 1TB external hard-drive I bought just for that purpose.

DAMN YOU, ANIME-DRIFT!!!

What did I do :O

ZaMpa | May 26, 2012 at 1:06 PM

No worries Walao..

I mad a complete home server with 12TB (+500GB system & softs) for storage, encode and "cinema" purpose :D

I mean... 800DVD are already a pain to stock in cases and take much space, i had to find something more efficient ^.^

Walao | May 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

@Zampa
WTF O_O *jaw-drop* *nose-bleeds* *faints*

ZaMpa | May 28, 2012 at 3:08 PM

that server runs torrent 24/7, i do anime's updates twice a week to get lasts episodes... when some series are complete i watch it...
Other comp is for gaming, blog management, and other desktop purpose :p

Walao | May 28, 2012 at 8:14 PM

Zampa... I'm speechless really. That is serious overkill... Or maybe not if you've got money. But home server? Won't your room get incredibly warm? :O

Damn it! Either way I look at it, it's beyond my imagination. A 12TB home server that runs 24/7 dedicated to anime, a gaming comp and another one for misc. stuff. OMGWTFOTL -claws at my head- -faints-

ZaMpa | May 29, 2012 at 2:44 PM

xD lmao

"Home server" it's actually a normal comp, but with 12TB HDD, 8GB DDR3 and Quad core @4.2Ghz for encodes.
It's actually really quiet and not that hot, my other comp does 2 or 3 times the noise and is like a hoven compared to it.

I used to stock animes on an old comp, but DVDs were stacking in cases, 200, 300... now it's about 800, i decided to stop it and use more compact storage => HDD.
Now it's god for years =)

Note :
I was supposed to make the 6 disks in RAiD5 (9TB actual storage) but the windows partition was poping out every 3 days and writting speed was about 8MB/s. I dropped it to use disks as independent ones.
About 4.5TB used right now for animes, but i have some cleaning to do.

Walao | May 30, 2012 at 10:23 AM

"DVDs were stacking in cases, 200, 300... now it's about 800"
You must be rich then. Or maybe you just dumped everything earned into anime? :O

Let's end the conversation on this note. What you said was pretty crazy but I can believe it now. Let's not dig up another mad fact of you and cause my brain any more possible shock.

ZaMpa | May 30, 2012 at 4:42 PM

that's the purpose of the forum... actually xD

(all are burned DVDs, i don't got any... official ones, it's way too expensive, and not even 10% is available here)

Walao | May 30, 2012 at 8:08 PM

Ah~ I feel a little relieved now. D:
